Below you will find the testimonies of people who's lives were changed here at TCRM.
Madonna's Testimony - My name is Madonna and this is my testimony regarding the profound impact Twin Cities Rescue Mission has had in my life. Twenty years I found myself at a critical junction. I was lost broken and defeated. Suffering with grief PTSD and addiction. I was beaten, disconnected from myself and God whom I had known my own life. However at my lowest point, divine intervention and led me to the "Jungle" at Marysville and right in line with the mission. The mission became a critical part of my survive. It became my sanctuary, my church, and a peace where I rediscovered my faith and my purpose. Over the years the mission and their friends have provided meals, showers, cloths and not to just men but to women in need. I have met a few mighty women of God here. One remarkable woman Linda Voca I love her so much. she constantly engaged me as an equal offering invaluable council and an unwavering belief in my potential. Her encouragement was a catalyst for my involvement in our community. specifically in running the women's clothing closet. I was honored to donate my time for three years an experience which transformed me. It fostered personal growth through the connections I have made and the challenges I've navigated. Linda's influence was instrumental in encouraging me to take on that responsibility. I am eternally grateful for her support. Three days a week I assist in shower time for the women here. Between the two I have formed lasting friendships and hope to be a positive influence in someone's life and to generate hope. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve others. I look forward to staying connected to the mission and to continue this journey of faith and service. All the glory goes to God. I am so excited and looking forward to all the positive changes and for the day that the women will finally have access to all the services available to the men. If someone were to ask what the mission meant to me I would have to say, "EVERYTHING".
Julies Testimony "Growing up "sheltered" in Hawaii, I didn't experience much. Needless to say, when I ventured out on my own in my early thirties, and in another state, I got into trouble-quick! I was homeless in an entirely new state, only knowing my "significant other" whom I had moved with. We ended up moving from Oregon to Yuba, CA and quickly found ourselves homeless again. He eventually left me to fend for myself on the streets of Yuba City. I wish I could say that was it, my "rock bottom". But that wasn't my turning point, not yet. I met my future husband while still homeless and life was HARD, to say the least. But God had a plan... God lead us to the mission, where I could shower and get much needed clothing. That is where I met Madonna. A loving, caring woman who gave me inspiration! Shortly after, my husband went to serve his prison sentence and I was at an all time low. I started to see that what I was doing in my own strength wasn't working. I got sober, got housed and most importantly, joined a church. I continued my connection with the mission, going everyday for breakfast before classes. My therapist suggested I start volunteering and told me to do it somewhere my heart was. There was no question-the mission was my beacon of light, this is where I wanted to serve the Lord. I am grateful today to have the opportunity to serve alongside Madonna. Who so long ago inspired me .
